Frequently Asked Questions

Historical weather data shows average highs of 54°F and lows of 40°F, with a 32% chance of rain on any given day. Recent editions show variable April conditions. One 2024 rider experienced "sun, rain, wind, more wind, thunderstorms but also a lot of laughter." In 2025 that "the weather in the first two day was not the best" with his pace dropping notably on day three, likely weather-related. Another 2025 participant saw "thick, dark clouds looming over the mountains" but "almost no rain." Similar climate challenges to SBT GRVL.[1]

Multiple conflicting start dates (April 17, 18, 23-24, or 25) and locations remain unresolved across sources. Claudia Gerosa successfully pre-booked hotels for her 2.5-day approach, splitting the Short Beach into Bassano-Quarto d'Altino-Vittorio Veneto stages. The event provides a start village with staff welcome, event packs, and finisher facilities including showers and meals, but basic logistical details stay frustratingly inconsistent.[1]

The route "opens up a hidden side of Italy, full of little-known tracks and long-forgotten corners" through diverse terrain that "changes face with every kilometer." Riders navigate the Lapisina Valley on paths different from obvious routes, plus the distinctive "Cento giorni" Piave section. The flexible format means "some sleep under the stars in a sleeping bag, some stop for a hot meal in a Venetian tavern."[11]

Growth from 328 cyclists in 2023 to over 1,300 in 2025 makes it "the biggest gravel bikepacking event in Europe" drawing "participants from over 20 countries." However, the event explicitly states "Veneto Gravel non è una gara!" [Veneto Gravel is not a race!] with no results list or timing — "you'll sign your name on the finisher's board" instead.[3]

If you're in Italy/Europe—yes, it's solid. If you're international—there are better options.
