It's a beautiful day out here. Not raining. And that is a glorious day. I have not ridden this route before. There's that beautiful springtime smell in the air. It's the older leaves popping out and it's so pretty.

Historical weather data shows average highs of 54°F and lows of 39°F, with a 60% chance of rain on any given day, and gusts reaching 28 mph. April timing as the gravel season opener means dealing with Pacific Northwest spring conditions. The race has successfully run multiple years without weather-related cancellations, though riders should prepare for typical Vancouver Island variability during shoulder season.
