Tour of Thekkady — Kerala Gran Fondo

Kerala's tropical climate during March provides warm conditions ideal for cycling, though the route passes through established tourist areas with predictable weather patterns rather than extreme or variable conditions.[3]

The event features well-organized structure with established checkpoints along the route through Ettumanoor, Pala, Neeloor, and Muttom, plus optional bike return services and clear category cutoff times.[2]

The 160 km tour winds through Kerala's diverse landscapes including serene backwaters, rubber and tea plantations, and cardamom estates before reaching Thekkady's rainforest and wildlife areas, offering cyclists a cultural immersion experience beyond typical cycling routes.[1]

While positioned as India's premier Gran Fondo aspiring to become the largest international cycling event in India, the event is still in its 5th edition (since 2022) compared to established European Gran Fondos with decades of history.[1]
