RIDERS REPORT
Winn's Pass
Riders describe this as a very challenging climb with extreme road conditions including 10 foot drops and rocky terrain that requires walking sections.
The Broken Road
A 6.6km section that is definitely hike-a-bike terrain according to riders.
Stony Middleton climb
Described by riders as a bit unpleasant, one of the chunky hills on the route.
Lord's Seat
Often boggy section that organizers suggested skipping due to wet conditions, described as a bit of a push.
Very rocky descents that require walking sections if you're not fully confident, with good lines visible but technically challenging.
Road conditions include extreme sections with 10 foot drops that make riders grateful for their usual roads.
Boggy conditions are common, especially after rain, making some sections more of a push than a ride.

From the Field

200k, 4,000 meters of climbing, which is about 12,000 ft. So, a lot of climbing, but a lot of beautiful roads, a lot of beautiful gravel trails.

I don't think we've even done a kilometer and we are straight up a big old hill. That was the first of 38 climbs, which was pretty savage - straight off the bat just up a hill.

Here is the famous broken road at Mammour. So apparently they've tried to repair it a few times and eventually just given up. You can see there the tarmac where it's just completely landslid.

There's mandatory kit for the route including 1.5 liters of water, and I'm taking the absolute bare minimum to try and get back before 11:00 Saturday evening.

RIDERS REPORT
You have 32 hours to complete the 200k route - your choice whether to sleep or go through the night for fastest time, or ride at leisurely cafe stop pace.
Plan to stop around Bakewell for overnight if doing the leisurely two-day approach.
At 30k in, riders report having done roughly 20% of the total climbing already with nearly 900 meters completed.
Event is unsupported - as long as you don't get outside help and don't sleep at a mate's house, anything else including B&Bs is fair game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Historical weather data shows average highs of 57°F and lows of 44°F, with a 65% chance of rain on any given day, and gusts reaching 26 mph. Mid-May in the Peak District means you're gambling on British spring weather, which could be anything from snow to scorching sun within the same 32-hour window. The research doesn't reveal specific weather disasters, but this is England – pack for rain, hope for clouds, expect wind. At least you're 'never too remote from civilisation' when the weather turns. More weather exposure than Belgian Waffle Ride San Diego.[1]

Event village camping in Bamford with Saturday morning starts delivers solid organization, plus "a train station a stone's throw from the start" makes public transport viable. Laura describes taking away "new skills" and "a renewed sense of what's possible" from the experience, but basic details like entry fees and exact start times remain unpublished.[1]

Laura "bivvied in the wild for the first time" and "strayed off the map more than once," including "five minutes of shouting 'hello?' Into a patch of dense woodland." The unsupported format through Stanage and Curbar gritstone edges, combined with wild camping options, delivers proper bikepacking adventure despite the civilized setting.[1]

"Now in its third edition" puts this firmly in baby-event territory, with organizer Valerio Stuart positioning it as "a stepping stone to bigger adventures." Laura's reflection that "your first step doesn't have to be epic" captures the event's intentionally modest ambitions - it's a training ground, not a destination race.[1]

If you're local to UK—yes, it's solid. If you're traveling internationally—skip it.
