La Drômoise Gravel

Late-September conditions in the Diois/Vercors foothills bring mild days, cool mornings, and variable mountain weather, with the possibility of early-autumn rain. Foothill terrain keeps conditions less extreme than high-altitude mountain racing, but layers are still worth packing.[1]

Saturday-morning start from Die's Meyrosse start area, with the 40km Lite option sharing its opener with the MTB event before splitting at Col de Royer. The 70km course runs on GPS-trace navigation only — riders get the GPX trace ahead of race day and are on their own to follow it, with just two aid stations (km 9 and km 48) along the way.[4]

The 70km route strings together the Solaure plateau and Roanne valley forest tracks, vineyard passages above Aurel and Barsac, and views toward the Dévoluy and Vercors massif, finishing near the Monastery of Sainte Croix. GPS-trace navigation on unmarked forest fire roads makes it feel like real exploration rather than a marked course.[4]

La Drômoise is a regional French cyclosportive weekend — its gravel category is in its 4th year, run alongside the longer-running road and MTB editions. It's a well-organized regional event rather than a race with international name recognition.[3]
