RIDERS REPORT
Rolling hills throughout course
87 hills along the 150 mile course with no flat roads in Nebraska. Roller coaster hills that slowly ramp up causing you to lose speed over the top and then having to accelerate down, which zaps your legs.
Deep gravel sections
Many sections of deep gravel that put riders into difficulty. You need to be very relaxed and allow the bike to float, especially if you start slipping and sliding around.
Long straight roads
Plenty of long and straight roads that can wreak havoc if the wind is blowing, though winds were almost non-existent on race day which is rare for this area.
The terrain is more relentless than Unbound according to riders, with constant up and down roller coasters. While technically easier than some races, there are no flat roads in Nebraska.
Roads are in primo shape for much of the course, but deep gravel sections require riders to stay relaxed and let the bike float to avoid slipping and sliding.
About 95% of the course is gravel with significant climbing - over 5,000 feet for the 75-mile course and 11,000 feet for the 150-mile course.

In my opinion, it's actually harder than Unbound. Yeah, it's 50 mi less, but I think the terrain is just a little more relentless. One thing I quickly learned last year is there's no flat roads in Nebraska.

The entire 150 mile course has about 11,000 feet of climbing, it's very lumpy indeed. I understand there were 87 hills along the 150 mile course that's a wee bit unpleasant when you make your home in North Central Florida for most of the year which isn't renowned being all that hilly.

According to the MC, it looks like this is the biggest 75 race that they've ever had. So many people here... 77 degrees for high today and very little humidity as the day goes on. It's going to be dusty but no mud, so that's good.

Another unique thing about the race this weekend is there's no outside support, which means we're on our own should we flat, break a chain, anything like that. Definitely a little bit more strategy around nutrition and feed zone stops this weekend compared to your average gravel race, which is kind of cool. Just adds another dynamic to the weekend.

No outside support allowed - riders must be self-sufficient for flats, mechanical issues, and nutrition. Some choose to carry all water for the day while others use the 2-3 water oases along the course.
Strategy around nutrition and feed zone stops is important since there are only two official checkpoints plus oases and convenience stores for refueling.
One rider planned to carry 6 liters of water to avoid stopping, estimating about 7 hours total race time.
